Katherine Ruiz is an Associate with Fishback Dominick practicing in the areas of government law, eminent domain, and inverse condemnation.
Ms. Ruiz brings to the firm a strong foundation in local government law from her tenure as a paralegal with the City Attorney’s Office of the City of Coral Gables. In this role she assisted the City Attorney on a wide variety of municipal, intergovernmental, and procedural matters before the City Commission, including drafting resolutions, ordinances, easements, and recorded covenants, as well as assisting with the formation of a special district.
Ms. Ruiz graduated from Florida A&M University College of Law in 2025 and is admitted to practice in Florida as a member in good standing of the Florida Bar. Ms. Ruiz earned her Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Florida International University (FIU), with a minor in Political Science, earning magna cum laude honors. While at FIU, she consistently appeared on the Dean’s List, was inducted into the Pi Sigma Alpha national political science honor society and served as the Ethics and Civility Chair on the board of Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity.
Dedicated to public service, Ms. Ruiz has volunteered with organizations such as Americans for Immigrant Justice and Hispanic Unity of Florida, where she assisted in providing access to legal resources and counsel for undocumented persons. These experiences, both inside and outside of government, inform her practice and underscore her commitment to fairness, vigorous advocacy, and protecting the rights of both individuals and institutions.
Ms. Ruiz has made Orlando her home since 2022, having been born and raised in Miami. Outside the office, she enjoys spending time with her two dogs and exploring new cultures through travel and culinary experiences.
