In Memory of Chuck Stepter

The Fishback Dominick family expresses its profound grief and sadness at the passing of our longtime partner, Chuck Stepter.

Chuck was a pillar of our law firm for four decades. One of the finest commercial litigators in Florida, Chuck left his mark on the next generation of attorneys in our firm who practice law like Chuck did, “wearing the white hat,” striving for the highest credibility, and placing our clients first.

He imparted a vast knowledge of motor vehicle law and workers compensation defense litigation to the attorneys following in his footsteps. Chuck’s likeable, affable nature endeared himself to friends and to legal foes alike.

The Florida Supreme Court honored Fishback Dominick for its contributions to pro bono legal services for those who cannot afford an attorney.  Chuck was the driving force behind that recognition, serving as a Trustee of the Orange County Bar Association’s Legal Aid Society for many years, including as its President in 1989-91. In 1990-92, he served on the Florida Bar’s Commission on Delivery of Legal Services to the Indigent and for more than a decade on the Bar’s Standing Committee on Pro Bono Legal Services.

Chuck served with honor in the United States Army, doing two tours of duty in Vietnam in 1968-69.  In 1973, he graduated from the Stetson University College of Law, where he served as Executive Editor of the Stetson Law Review.

The firm will miss his Christmas-time sausages and Georgia Bulldog football updates.

Fishback Dominick expresses its deepest condolences to Marie Stepter and the entire Stepter family.
