Gayle Owens Receives Board Certification in Local Government Law

In August 2010, Gayle Owens joined Dan Langley and Kurt Ardaman, as a Florida Bar Board Certified attorney in the area of City, County and Local Government Law. Certification is the highest level of recognition by The Florida Bar of the competency and experience of attorneys in the area of law certified.  To achieve certification, the lawyer must be a member in good standing of the Florida Bar, with a full-time practice of at least five years.  For at least the last three years prior to certification, a substantial portion of the lawyer’s practice must be in the area of certification. After an extensive application describing her experience and involvement in government law is submitted, a peer review is conducted to determine the attorney’s reputation among other practicing local government attorneys for her knowledge, skills, proficiency and involvement as well as her character, ethics and professionalism.  If the candidate passes the peer review, she is allowed to take a 6-hour written examination to test their knowledge, skills and proficiency in the field.

Ms. Owens joined the Fishback Law Firm in March 2000, and since that time has represented and advised municipal clients in the areas of land use and zoning, code enforcement, annexation, non-ad valorem assessments, Sunshine and Public Records Law, and many other issues too numerous to list.  Ms. Owens successfully represented municipal clients in multiple appeals of code enforcement related actions in both the Circuit and District Courts of Florida.
